About Workman Elementary
Workman Elementary School is located in La Puente, CA and is one of 23 elementary schools in Hacienda La Puente Unified School District. It is a public school that serves approximately 340 students in grades Transitional Kindergarten through Grade 5.
Workman Elementary was named one of California's 2016 Gold Ribbon Schools Award Program. This recognition from the California Department of Education (CDE) seeks to recognize outstanding educational programs and practices. Schools that are selected demonstrate exemplary achievements in implementing state standards in priority areas.
Since then, Workman Elementary continues to be recognized with numerous awards for outstanding work and achievement!
We have WONDERFUL NEWS!!! Workman Elementary School was recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of the best elementary schools! Out of 8,778 elementary schools (K-8th grades) in California, Workman Elementary ranked in the top 17%. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, and families! Great job!
Workman Elementary School was honored with the Civic Learning Award of Merit. The award recognizes and celebrates a commitment to providing rich civic learning opportunities for students. The program is coordinated by the Power of Democracy Civic Learning Initiative and co-sponsored by Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond. 2023 California Golden Bell Awardee
Workman Elementary was recognized with the California Golden Bell Award for its achievements in civic learning through Project LEAD (Life Experiences About Democracy). Project LEAD fosters informed citizens who are hopeful about democracy and develop knowledge, skills and civic dispositions by identifying relevant community issues, proposing solutions, developing resolutions and participating in real-world civic action. Students’ experiences span beyond learning content knowledge such as history, social studies, government, politics and literacy into transferrable essential life skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, effective communication, citizenship and character development. California Pivotal Practice School Awardee
Congratulations Workman students, staff and community! We are proud of all the work you all have done through this pandemic. All your hard work has been highlighted by the state of California's Pivotal Practice Award. The award highlights school practices implemented during the 2020–21 school year when California required schools to offer distance learning due to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 pandemic. Congratulations Workman students, staff and community! We’re proud to be named an #ERPHonorRoll 2019-2020 school, which recognizes high-performing, achievement gap-closing schools across the nation.
