Principal's Welcome Message

Dear Workman Families, 
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2020/2021 school year at Workman Elementary!  I am very excited to serve all of you in my fourth year as your Principal. Last school year was an unprecedented one in the history of our educational system. In reaction to the COVID-19 Global Pandemic, Workman was closed to normal activity on March 16th, 2020, and moved to a Remote Learning Model. This monumental task was accomplished due to the dedication and the great skill of our Staff, Students, and Parents. Our District personnel deserves a great deal of this credit as well. Our school provided Chromebooks and/or Hotspot to students upon request. We are ready to start with Distance Learning on Wednesday, August 5, 2020. While the 2019-2020 School Year was filled with difficulty and loss, our Wolverines and Wolverine Parents came through time and time again with stories of individual perseverance and tenacity that filled us with hope and reaffirmed our faith in this next generation of young people ready to take on the world!

Personally, I am grateful and elated to continue this journey with you as your Principal. Over the past year three years, I have had a chance to meet many of you and your children, and look forward to continue building a strong relationship with all of you in the upcoming year. As we enter this new school year, I want to let you know that our staff will be engaging in conversations around having a growth mindset, both for themselves and all students. We believe that every person in our school should always be growing and learning. Despite obstacles that may arise, we must always believe in our ability to rise above challenges and come out stronger on the other end. 
My passion for education and supporting the success of all students has been shaped over the past twenty-one years as a teacher, assistant principal, counselor and administrator. In each of my roles, I have sought to ensure the success of each student and the school, by providing the best instructional and extracurricular opportunities and supports possible. Similarly, it is my number one priority at Workman to ensure that every student receives the most well-rounded education possible. 

As we embark on Distance Learning, I am asking to please offer grace to your child’s teacher, other school personnel and myself included.  I promise that educating and keeping your children safe is still our #1 priority. We are about to navigate uncharted waters and we are working to the best of our ability.

Canvas simplifies teaching, elevates learning, and eliminates the headaches of supporting and growing traditional learning technologies. Canvas Parent App:  Canvas Parent is designed to provide visibility into your child’s education at a glance. Canvas Parent allows parents to: View assignment descriptions and due dates, set 
reminders for assignments, View assignment grades, View course grades, Set grade alerts, View course announcements. 


  • Ensure that their Aeries Parent Portal information is up to date: linked parent portal email(s) will receive Aeries emails from teachers/and administration, Primary Phone # (primary contact is the ONLY phone # that will receive School Messenger phone calls) 
  • Complete Yearly Data confirmation on Aeries beginning as soon as possible
